Help carefully remove non-native and invasive plants while protecting native vegetation and wildlife habitat. Most workdays focus on this hands-on care; planting takes place when appropriate. Choose a group that fits your week, and contact the leader to confirm the meeting place, time, and weather updates.

YOUR FIRST WORKDAY
A little preparation.
A warm welcome.
Bring gloves, sun protection, and a refillable water bottle. Wear closed-toed shoes. Eye protection is recommended for vegetation work.
Ask your group leader about parking and the day's activities before arriving. Parking passes and arrangements depend on the workday.

How do we avoid damaging the dunes?
Follow the leader’s work limits and methods. Use established access routes, protect native plants and roots, and avoid nests, burrows, and posted areas. Leave uncertain plants in place and ask before any work that disturbs sand or roots. Read the volunteer field guide.
Do I need to know about plants?
No. Our leaders bring experience in native plants and plant identification, drawing on UF/IFAS Pinellas County Extension resources. You can learn alongside the team. Your leader will explain which non-native or invasive plants are targeted for removal and how to work carefully around native vegetation. Ask before removing any plant you cannot identify.
Where exactly do we meet?
Locations can change with the work being done. Email the group leader for the current meeting point and to join the weekly update list.
What happens in bad weather?
Check with your group leader before setting out. Workdays may change or be canceled when conditions are unsuitable.
